What We’re Looking For:

FoodCorps seeks motivated and passionate individuals to lead, mentor, and support a cohort of 20 FoodCorps service members and FoodCorps programming under the guidance of our CT Program Manager. The Connecticut Program Coordinator will play a meaningful role in the delivery of high quality programming statewide by assisting with the training and ongoing mentorship to service members, the selection and management of service sites, and the day to day program administration tasks. They will have experience leading teams and be excited to support rising leaders.

This is a full-time position based in the state of Connecticut. Current offices are in Manchester Connecticut, but this position will begin as a remote position (within CT) and will require frequent in-state and occasional out of state travel.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Service Member Training, Management, and Support
    • Serving as the first point of contact for the service member cohort, providing technical assistance with service activities and offering coaching to achieve programmatic quality and fidelity
    • Building strong relationships with site supervisors and school and district contacts to ensure service members receive appropriate direction and support
    • Collaborate with the Program Manager and local leaders to plan and deliver state orientation, ongoing trainings, and community building opportunities for service members during the program year.
  • Service Member Recruitment and Selection
    • Supporting all local recruitment efforts as needed
    • Coordinating the service member selection process
    • Stewarding applicants throughout application and selection process
  • Program Management and Administration
    • Conducting a minimum of 2 in-person site visits with each service member to observe programming, deliver feedback, support improvements, and celebrate successes
    • Ensuring that FoodCorps, service members, sites, and schools are meeting FoodCorps and AmeriCorps compliance requirements
    • Acting as an expediter for service member needs, facilitating information-sharing, including communicating key program requirements and communicating requests from service members to decision makers and resources.
    • Providing administrative and operations support as needed and requested
    • Supporting the FoodCorps State social media pages
    • Supporting the planning of visits with potential donors or media opportunities
Skills/Eligibility:
  • Self-starter, with the ability to collaborate and build strong rapport with team members both in-person and remotely required
  • Previous experience leading and coaching groups of volunteers, service members or employees required
  • Skilled at developing and maintaining relationships across varied communities, including service members, site partners, and school administrators
  • Ability to organize and facilitate high quality trainings and other professional learning experiences
  • Ability to take direction, self-advocate, and exhibit leadership in relationships across the organization
  • Comfort and competence in working with people from a diversity of backgrounds, and a passion for incorporating the needs and expertise of the community you serve.
  • Comfort using online and social media platforms for communication, organization, and collaboration
  • Knowledge of FoodCorps or other national service programs and/or familiarity with school or district contexts, and/or farm to school, garden, or nutrition education programming
  • A car and valid driver’s license is required for this position

FoodCorps pays salaries that are competitive with nonprofits of our budget size and geographic location, and offers generous vacation and medical benefits, 401(k) matching, professional development funds and a sabbatical policy. This position is a Coordinator-level role with an annual salary range of $43,000-48,000.
