Public Health Nurse II - Chelan-Douglas Health District

Summary Description: This position involves extensive interaction with WA State Department of Health, community agencies/businesses, medical personnel, school district staff, and health district staff to respond to the COVID19 pandemic and other communicable/non-communicable diseases.
To ensure the highest level of services are provided, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Develops and implements policies and procedures for the agency’s COVID19 response, including but not limited to, workplace safety polices, contact investigations, and contact tracing.
- Communicates effectively with DOH/EPI, medical /dental providers, school staff, agency partners and the public as needed.
- Utilizes data reporting systems, including but not limited to WDRS, CREST, PHIMS for reporting and surveillance of communicable diseases.
- Works collaboratively with the Regional Epidemiologist.
- Communicates with congregate and workplace settings regarding COVID/other communicable diseases and provides guidance regarding infection control practices to prevent the transmission of disease.
- Works collaboratively with medical providers, including but not limited to, monitoring for hospitalized COVID19 cases/ COVID19 deaths and managing COVID19 death review panel.
- Performs clinic/case management duties in Communicable Disease, as assigned.
- Coordinates specific program areas including development, implementation, and evaluation of program objectives.
- Utilizes fax and email distribution lists to inform partners of new guidance.
- Helps develop and organize education to providers and the public regarding COVID19/other communicable/non-communicable diseases.
- Produces data reports as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of professional nursing principles and concepts.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Strong communication skills in oral and written forms.
- Ability to use nursing judgment and knowledge.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with other staff and allied professionals within the community.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Current computer skills.
Level Requirements (Minimum):
Experience & Education:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) or two years of Public or Community Health nursing experience
- Current Washington State Nursing license
- A valid Washington State driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
- Per the Governor’s Proclamation 21-14, CDHD requires a COVID vaccination for in-person business. Therefore, all employees are required to present proof of vaccination status upon hire, except as required by law
Desired:
- Bachelor degree in nursing from a school with NLN accreditation
- Bilingual preferred
**A combination of education, training, and experience which has provided theoretical and practical knowledge will be evaluated for equivalency.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Visually or otherwise identify, observe and assess distance, color and depth; required to regularly communicate with others and exchange accurate information.
- Able to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment; able to remain stationary at a computer for extended periods and move around their assigned workspace.
- Frequently move up to 25 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds.
- May require work on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- PPE for this position may require N-95 respirator, face shield, gloves. N-95 fit testing may be required.
