The Executive Director assures the mission of the Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission (NCQAC) is accomplished according to RCW 18.79. The NCQAC is a fifteen-member, governor appointed commission that regulates the competency and quality of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, advanced registered nurse practitioners, and nursing technicians in Washington State. The NCQAC works with the Department of Health according to a negotiated Operating Agreement. 

The Executive Director serves at the pleasure of the NCQAC. The NCQAC establishes, monitors, and enforces qualifications for licensing, consistent standards of practice, continuing competency, and discipline. Rules, policies, and procedures developed by the NCQAC promote patient safety and the delivery of quality health care for the people of the state of Washington. The Executive Director is accountable to the NCQAC, the Governor and ultimately to the people of Washington in the provision of safe, competent nursing care. 

The duty station for this position is in Tumwater, WA. Telework (mobile work) is currently expected. When approved, the incumbent is expected to report to the duty station for work activities. Partial telecommuting may be an option subject to supervisory approval.
