Description:

The person in this position will be part of the Drinking Water Program team dedicated to the protection of public health by ensuring the delivery of safe drinking water to the citizens of Alaska. The primary purpose of this position is to provide supervision and oversight of all engineering activities in the Anchorage Drinking Water Program. The person in this position will apply civil and environmental engineering principles to the review and approval of engineering plans submitted for new construction or modifications to public water system source, treatment, storage, and distribution systems. The person in this position will also perform public water system inspections, provide technical assistance, and outreach, and respond to possible waterborne disease outbreaks.

Skills/Eligibility:

We are looking for people with any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the following competencies:   

  • Environmental Engineering:  Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods to protect and improve the quality of the environment and its resources; and to monitor, control, abate, and prevent pollutants.

SPECIAL NOTE:

  • To apply for this position, the applicant will be required to be a licensed professional engineer (PE) in the State of Alaska.  

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)

AND

One year of professional experience as an Engineering Associate 1 (or the equivalent) with the State of Alaska or elsewhere.

Special Note:

"Professional engineering" includes the branches listed in 12 AAC 36.990 (17).

 

Positions in this class require professional registration as an Engineer with the State of Alaska.

Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b). Persons employed under this provision must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.
