This Environmental Specialist 3 – PROJECT position helps protect and enhance the health of the people of Washington State by carrying out state-wide environmental field surveillance for pathogens for the Zoonotic Disease Program within the Office of Environmental Public Health Sciences. It provides analytical analysis for pathogen samples using Polymerase Chain Reaction methods and equipment.Skills/Eligibility:
And, have the following REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (NOTE: Experience may have been gained concurrently.)
- A Master’s of science degree or higher in molecular biology, environmental health, wildlife biology, or a closely allied field.
- One (1) or more years of experience performing DNA extraction and analysis using quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction in solids, arthropods, or other closely related media.
- One (1) or more quarter(s) of undergraduate fieldwork collecting environmental samples and associated data OR three (3) or more months of equivalent work experience.
- Intermediate-level experience using MS Word and MS Excel; as well as demonstrated experience using MS Outlook and the internet.
