RTI International’s technical and scientific staff conduct health research and provide technical services to improve health in the U.S. and around the globe. We are seeking experienced candidates to support our work to improve the human condition for military populations.  
RTI is seeking a Biological Laboratory Technician to provide experimental and technical support for clinical and translational research protocols using a variety of standardized and specialized laboratory procedures involving biobanking and a diverse array of biological research techniques and equipment platforms.  This position is based within Madigan Army Medical Center (located in Washington state) and through the Regional Health Command – Pacific. 
• Provide technical assistance to ongoing human or animal research protocols; monitoring experiments, observing, calculating and recording results. 
• Consult with research investigators to determine study needs (IRB requirements/compliance, patient consent forms, clinical and medical data collection, establishment of timelines, ordering supplies, preparation of sample biobanking, processing and analysis needs) for IRB protocol submissions involving biobanking procedures and/or coordination with surgical/OR teams for sample collection.
• Develop and/or follow universally accepted procedures to collect, process, biobank, and analyze biological samples following pre-established protocols, SOPs, guidelines, and timelines in consultation with the study PI.
• Manage all collected samples, accounting for inventory accuracy, defined location, labeling, and software tracking of the samples.
• Assists in sample analysis including, but not limited to: immunoblotting, mass spectrometry, next generation sequencing, quantitative PCR, histological, immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence staining, and microscopy.
• Assist investigators in developing an appropriate experimental design.
• Generate study specific SOPs in consultation with specific study PI that include sample collection procedural SOPs, sample processing, sample analysis, clinical data and data management SOPs. 
• Assist with the setup, operation and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment as assigned. 
• Assist PIs and study personnel with ordering supplies and general laboratory maintenance.
• Maintain accurate records, including the inputting of experimental, medical and clinical data into scientific databases.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor degree in a science related field with 1 year experience working in a research or clinical laboratory. Preferable with experience in bench-top molecular and cellular research techniques. 
• Must be enrolled in Madigan Army Medical Center occupational health surveillance program. 
• To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United State and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.
