The Addictions Prevention Specialist will be a part of a prevention team of 2-3 Public Health employees, to reduce use and abuse of alcohol, drugs, tobacco, suicide, and problem gambling. Work plans are created for at least 2-years and focus on education and promotion of healthy behaviors, as well as partnerships with other community organizations with a shared mission/target audience. This position assists schools and communities in the development and implementation of prevention/intervention programs. This position may have the clinical abilities to intervene with students who have a substance abuse or gambling problem and supports local community coalitions.
