Why does the job exist?
This position will coordinate the sharing and analysis of public health and public safety information with law enforcement agencies across the state to identify current and emerging hot spots (areas with high overdose risk), identify overdose risk factors, and deploy prevention resources to targeted areas. This requires coordinating information sharing between DOH and law enforcement agencies, researching the potential need for formal agreements regarding the National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS), and developing the formal data-sharing agreements.
How does it get done?
This position will provide technical assistance, and facilitate training, to Law Enforcement agencies in New Mexico concerning naloxone carry-and-administer programs as well as develop a process to connect overdose survivors and high-risk individuals, such as those re-entering communities from prisons and jails, to treatment and prevention services.
