Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist - Seattle Galvanizing (Job)

Seattle Galvanizing Company is currently seeking a motivated and talented individual for the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist position in located Arlington, WA. This position requires a highly driven individual that will be responsible for administering general safety policies and procedures to be followed by the Company in compliance with all local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation of annual, site-specific environmental, health and safety targets and objectives for the site in order to measurably reduce exposure to the site’s most significant health and safety risks and environmental impacts.
- Function as the site level expert in the company’s Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) database to manage data related to health and safety events such as injuries, workers compensation claims, near miss incidents and internal and external inspections.
- Manages implementation of Seattle Galvanizing Company’s safety and environmental standards which includes, but is not limited to, Hazardous Energy Control/Lockout, Confined Space Entry, PPE, and Waste Storage.
- Assist the deployment of environmental, health and safety teams (e.g., Safety Committee, Monthly Meetings, etc.) and facilitates their engagement in ownership of the activities required to maintain compliance, reduce the site’s environmental footprint and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure that all people (employees, vendors, customers, visitors) are in conformance with all safety requirements and that all employees are enforcing the safety requirements consistently and without exception.
- Assist with development and maintenance of training processes to ensure that required environmental, health and safety training is defined, addresses required content and is tracked to completion.
- Assist with data collection, reporting and permit submittals for multi-media environmental regulatory requirements.
- Utilize ArchBright as a resource regularly to aide in efficiency and resolution.
- Work with Human Resources and EHS Director to manage all accident reports and claims.
- Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
Skills/Eligibility:
Education and Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, preferably in Environmental studies.
- 1+ years of field experience or in a manufacturing environment.
- Intermediate computer skills (e.g. MS Office including Excel and Word) are essential.
- Has or willing to obtain First aid, CPR and hazardous waste material certification.
- Well versed in state and federal health and safety regulations.
