Description:

Job description

The Pallanck Lab investigates the cell biological causes of neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease, using the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. Fundamentally, we want to understand what goes wrong in the neurons that die.

Duties and Responsibilities:

We are looking for a student to work 8-10 hours per month in a critical role: fly chef. You will cook, dispense, and store large quantities of fly food on a rotating schedule with two other students. Shifts will be 2-4 hours on Friday or Saturday. This job is not a research position. It’s unglamorous but essential; without good-quality fly food on schedule, our research doesn’t happen.

The beauty of this job is that it’s especially flexible. If you need a particular Friday or Saturday off, you can work it out with the other fly chefs.

Minimum Qualifications:

We need someone we can depend on, so only candidates able to make at least a one-year commitment with availability over school breaks will be considered. You must also able to work independently, pay close attention to detail, and lift around 30 lb

Additional Details:

Hours per week (approx.): 8-10 hours
