We are seeking an Industrial Hygienist to join our Team in either our Richland, WA office, or our Oak Ridge, TN office.

How will you contribute to the team?

Assists with the administration of the Safety and Industrial Health Programs at multiple AtkinsRéalis sites. Develop, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of the Safety and Industrial Hygiene Program in the workplace.

Maintains programs and procedures in compliance with Federal and State regulatory requirements.

Performs industrial hygiene and safety evaluations and recommend controls or corrective actions to workplace hazards. Oversee the medical surveillance program.

Provides support regarding occupational injuries and illnesses and workers compensation.

Develops, update, and implements programs, policies and procedures for monitoring and preventing chemical, physical and biological hazards and diseases in the workplace.

Provides mentoring, guidance, and leadership to safety and health personnel.

Utilizes Safety and Industrial Hygiene best management practices when evaluating workplace hazards, compiling and analyzing data and implement controls. Including: ergonomics, health and safety controls, and industrial hygiene exposure monitoring.

Provides technical assistance to support “as requested project start-up or closure” which may include travel to various work locations.

Participates in local and division safety committees.

Provides technical support and oversight to projects working to Chronic beryllium Disease Prevention Program 10 CFR 850.

Provides technical support for use and implementation of safety and health electronic software.

Ensures equipment is maintained and calibrated in accordance with applicable quality assurance program requirements and manufacturers recommendations.

Coordinates with Environmental Management for the safe storage, use, and disposal of workplace chemicals.

Supports the projects and environmental management regarding regulatory permits and reporting requirements.

Provides technical support regarding the process of reviewing and evaluating subcontractor qualifications.

Reviews and approve safety and health related procurements as applicable.

Provides injury oversite and electronic reporting to Workers Compensation electronic reporting system.

Participates in team management assessments at various workplace locations.

Manages the division medical surveillance program and third-party contract.

Reviews business proposals and provide written review of issues, concerns, or precautionary actions.

Evaluates and interpret applicable Federal and State codes, standards and regulations to ensure compliance.

Writes or reviews technical reports based on the interpretation of data, observations, and current regulations.

Assists Training Department with developing, reviewing or presenting training and other safety related training, including computer-based training programs as required.

Assists with incident investigations and tracking of corrective actions and other safety action items.

Promotes communication to enhance and encourage employee awareness of safety and health requirements.

Ensures safety, health, and environmental project records are submitted to corporate records retention periodically and at the termination of a project.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills/Eligibility:
What will you contribute?

Bachelor’s degree required in Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, or related science field.
-
Minimum of 5 years industrial hygiene experience in industry and/or construction.

Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) required.
-
Experience with Environmental Risk Assessments and Programs.

Working knowledge of chemical, physical, and biological hazards to anticipate, recognize and evaluate hazards and recommend controls.

Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and consensus standards.
-
Knowledge of construction or chemical industry processes.
-
Ability to read and interpret regulatory regulations.
-
Ability to perform walkdowns in office, operations and construction areas.
-
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
-
Ability to develop comprehensive mitigation measures to deal with environmental risks.
-
Ability to produce Project Environmental Management Plan – EMP.
-
Is fully aware of all current and future environmental regulation and has a working knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
-
Ability to travel within the United States and potentially international.
-
Department of Energy (DOE) preferred.
-
10 CFR 850 Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program preferred.
-
10CFR851 DOE Worker Safety & Health Program preferred.
-
Hydrogen Safety experience preferred.
-
Ability to work or enter a radiological controlled area preferred.
-
Ability to create and maintain corporate IH & IS procedures preferred.
