Communications Request

If possible, please include a subject, pre-header and name of who the email should come from (if not the UW School of Public Health)
  • All-school, faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, a combination or subset
  • If faculty, what kind? All faculty, SPH core faculty, affiliate, a combination?
Marketo emails are best for messages that require significant formatting, interactive elements or graphic treatments.  They can track open rates and click-throughs.
  • Two weeks of advance notice is ideal.  Minimum advanced notice is one week.
  • External, non-School audiences (including alumni) can “unsubscribe” easily and when they do, we loose the opportunity to communicate with them through this platform in the future – so use wisely.
Listserv is best for messages that can be shared directly with segmented lists of the School community.  
  • This is best for emails that don’t require significant formatting, interactive elements or graphic treatments.  
  • They do not allow you to track open rates or click-throughs.  
  • They do not require a lot of advance work and may be the best choice for communicating quickly.
  • The point person/owner of the email sends the email via the list serves and they are approved by administrators on the back-end.
  • If you are unsure of which format to use, we can make a recommendation.
  • If you know what you want to communicate, please provide draft copy.  The comms staff will review and suggest edits for clarity, coordination with other planned communications and other known nuances.
  • If you want the comms staff to write the original copy, please let us know that.
  • Do you need quotes or “other voices”?  If so, this may take extra time to procure.
