Two projects involving SPH faculty awarded Population Health Initiative tier 3 pilot grants

In its latest round of funding, the University of Washington’s Population Health Initiative has awarded four tier 3 pilot grants, two of which include School of Public Health researchers. Each project was awarded $200,000 from the initiative as well as matching funds from units across campus, bringing the total amount awarded to $910,000.

The initiative’s tier 3 pilot grant program is intended to support faculty and principal investigator-eligible staff to create follow-on opportunities for impactful projects that have developed preliminary data or realized proof-of-concept and are seeking to scale their efforts and/or expand the scope of their work. Researchers from five different UW schools and colleges were represented in this round of awards.

In the School of Public Health, Associate Professor Edmund Seto of environmental and occupational health sciences and Clinical Assistant Professor Kirsten Senturia of health systems and population health will work with other investigators on the following two awarded projects respectively:

Evaluating the impacts of military aircraft noise pollution on human health and well-being: a community-based inquiry

Project nature: An intervention to promote nature contact and play equity for children vs. primary care
