Are you experienced in applying the tools of Quality Improvement to health and human services?  Do you enjoy working with managers and employees to create and implement process improvements?  If so, our Strengthening Families Division is seeking a Regular, Full-time Health Promotion Coordinator III, Substance Abuse Services Quality Improvement Coordinator.

Required Certifications and Licensure
• Chemical Dependency Professional AND Licensed Mental Health Professional.

Some of what you’ll do:

  • Program audit/file review, quality improvement education and consultation for Treatment Services programs to include mental health.
  • Advise and guide the program in implementing and assessing the fidelity of various QI tools and techniques implemented
  • Provide guidance toward implementation and assessment of QI fidelity.
  • Work with staff, service providers, and community leaders to identify improvements to quality assurance practices and strategies, compliance issues, and programmatic prevention and treatment strategies and public health issues.
  • Conduct data analysis and studies to identify root causes of problems, identify important procedures and policy determinations and measure success of process changes.
  • Based on results of data analysis, may address deficiencies in programmatic goals and objectives, operational protocols and/or budgetary needs to effectively and efficiently render services.  May provide recommendations for fee schedule adjustments, revenue generating sources and appropriate program-staffing levels.

  • Knowledge of QI methodologies and techniques (Lean, Six Sigma, Plan Do Study, Act, etc.)
  • Ability to apply QI methodologies and techniques to health and human services delivery processes.
  • Ability to facilitate cooperation, open communication and consensus among individuals and groups.
  • Ability to Identify, analyze, and develop recommendations to resolve problems of effectiveness and efficiency of program operations.
  • Contributes to the outcomes of a mutual goal.

Who should apply:

Master’s degree and four years of relevant experience in community health, environmental, education, or other relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential functions of work.

Required Certifications and Licensure
• Chemical Dependency Professional AND Licensed Mental Health Professional.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driver’s abstract prior to employment.

Desirable Skills
• Quality Improvement and process improvement experience.


Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

Work Setting:

Work is performed almost exclusively indoors in an office environment. Exposure to hazards is limited to those commonly found in government office environments.

Physical Demands: no special demands.

Tools and Equipment: no special tools.


Some travel is required, and is typically local or regional, to meet with clients, conduct business, or attend or provide training.

Extensive local travel may be required.

When public health responds to an emergency you may be assigned duties that are outside your regular job description. This may involve responding at any time, including nights and weekends, with possible deployment to locations other than the department.
