The Opportunity
Reporting to the Perinatal and Adolescent Health Program Manager, the Adolescent Health Performance Coordinator is responsible for performance coordination activities of the Adolescent Health program.  This position is responsible for ensuring quality improvement, sustainability, and data collection with partners.  The Adolescent Health Performance Coordinator provides training and technical assistance to partners and ensures adequate tracking and reporting by partners in collaboration with the program epidemiologist. This position also monitors fidelity of evidence-based and evidence-informed programs and works with federal Project Officer(s) and the federal Office of Adolescent Health, along with other funders, on performance measure reporting.
The Adolescent Health (AH) unit promotes the availability of systems, tools and services to better the health of adolescents in Washington State. This position is an integral member of the Adolescent Health Program and engages in appropriate program activities to support the overall health and well-being of adolescents and young adults.
The Prevention and Community Health Division supports the Department of Health’s mission by collaborating with our partners and stakeholders to enhance the health of individuals, families, and communities. We work to prevent disease and promote a healthy start, healthy choices, and access to services. The division employees work in two primary locations and a few local health departments, to deliver public health services statewide.
This is a permanent full-time Health Services Consultant 3 position.

What will you be doing? – Duties include

  • Responsibility for the Pregnancy Assistance Fund (PAF) program evaluation plan, working in collaboration with the program epidemiologist.
  • Obtaining input and buy-in from PAF program partners and sub-grantees while developing or updating evaluation materials.
  • Working with grant partners to provide technical assistance through the development of training materials.
  • Collaborating with program partners during and after continuous quality improvement activities to maximize program reach and effectiveness.
  • Responsibility for Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) program evaluation plan.
  • Reporting on TPP program performance measures.
  • Developing and implementing sustainability plans for Adolescent Health programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in the following:
    • Implementing public health programs with diverse community partners.
    • State or local experience with community development, youth development, community mobilization, community planning, or community systems development, with focus on adolescent health.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in the following:
    • Program evaluation experience working with community partners on use of data and performance measures for program planning and decision-making.
    • Working with diverse community partners in continuous quality improvement to improve program reach and effectiveness, optimize program success and ensure ongoing response to any challenges identified.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with evaluation methods in the design of studies and investigations.

Desired Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in public health, social science, community development, or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in the following:
    • Working with maternal child health populations, particularly women and adolescents.
    • Working in the domestic violence and/or sexual assault fields.
    • Working with diverse stakeholders on sustainability planning.
    • Achieving program performance objectives using culturally relevant approaches.

Conditions of Employment/Working Conditions

  • Work a 40 hours work week.  Standard business hours or Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  A flexible work schedule or telecommunicating may be considered upon request and supervisory approval, after an initial review period.
