Vital Records Epidemiologist - New Mexico Department of Health Epidemiology & Response Division
The vital records epidemiologist will collaborate with other staff to analyze the vital records statistical files on deaths, live births, fetal deaths, and intentional termination of pregnancy, provide health statistics from birth and death registration records and provide crucial information on the health of the population. This position will take the lead on providing geocoded vital records data to partners within the Department of Health and from external agencies. The incumbent will respond to requests for health data on vital event and will use SAS software to analyze and tabulate vital statistics data by geographic and demographic characteristics, oversee the geocoding of birth and death records, and perform data quality assurance/quality control checks. Incumbent will provide analyzed data to epidemiologists and program managers within the Department of Health to monitor public health indicators, and to policy-makers and the public through written reports and presentations. Ideal candidate will have experience with tabulating and analyzing vital records data in SAS, geocoding addresses and using GIS software, performing data linkages between administrative datasets, and performing data quality assurance checks.
