Description:
The U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research has a fellowship opportunity available for an established statistician/data scientist. The successful candidate will collaborate with a diverse group of scientists and clinicians, supporting combat casualty care research.
The candidate should have the ability to work independently as well as within multidisciplinary teams of researchers, be a U.S. citizen, have at least a master’s degree in statistics, applied mathematics, or data science, and 5+ years of work experience. Skills that are favorable include teaching advanced statistics or data science classes, calculating sample size/power, and preparing publication quality tables and figures. Excellent oral and written communication skills are also highly desirable. A thorough knowledge of the theory and techniques of applied statistical methods such as linear mixed models, generalized estimating equations, analysis of non-parametric data, and failure analysis are required. The candidate must have strong data management skills in addition to knowledge of SAS programming language.
