JOB #: 16326

POSTED: September 17, 2020

Description:

The Yale School of Public Health and the Yale Comprehensive Cancer Center (YCC) have received a Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) T32 training award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH, T32 CA250803, 08/01/2020 – 07/31/2025), under which up to three (3) postdoctoral trainees are being recruited. Below are key aspects of the training program:

  • The Yale CPC Training Program aims to train postdoctoral fellows in five thematic areas critical to CPC: cancer etiology, cancer outcomes, lifestyle behavioral interventions, implementation science and community-engaged research.
  • The program is enabled by 22 Primary Faculty and 14 Resource Faculty at the Yale School of Public Health and School of Medicine, who have an outstanding track record in CPC research and mentoring of junior investigators.
  • Fellows will also directly participate and interact with the 7 YCC Research Programs and 14 YCC Disease-Aligned Research Teams.
  • Our training program will include a comprehensive mentoring program; a structured CPC Fellows research in progress meetings; participation in CPC research assistantship; and annual ½ day workshops in our 5 thematic areas.
  • Our program will select highly qualified and diverse candidates who wish to pursue a career in CPC. It is our goal that CPC Fellows will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to function independently, and develop and carry out innovative, impactful studies filling key gaps in CPC research, potentially changing the standard of care and impacting policy.
  • Selected candidates will receive stipend support at the prescribed NIH postdoctoral level based on NIH Notice NOT-OD-  20-070, and may request training related expenses up to $11,000 each year.
