Position Summary:

The Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER) at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) seeks outstanding faculty candidates for an Assistant or Associate Professor, non-tenured position; rank commensurate with qualifications.

Duties:

Disseminate research findings to both academic and non-academic audiences.

Contribute to ongoing research studies focused on human behavior and its relationship to health issues of local and national importance.

Lead and/or collaborate in developing new grant proposals for extramural funding

May engage in mentoring/academic advising of students involved in research projects.

Other related duties as assigned or needed.

Provide service to the University, profession, and/or community.

The successful applicant will become a member of the productive, multi-disciplinary Center for Behavioral Health Research and Services (CBHRS; https://iseralaska.org/cbhrs/) and contribute to CBHRS’ applied research and evaluation activities, including effectiveness, intervention, and dissemination and implementation research.

While CBHRS investigators study a broad range of topics, its studies support an overarching goal of promoting behaviors that contribute to improving physical and mental health, and ISER’s mission to enhance the well-being of Alaskans and others, through non-partisan research.

Through this position, CBHRS hopes to expand its capacity and support ISER’s growing expertise in health economics and health policy. Desired research topics could include any of several relevant and highly fundable areas that complement the current work of the CBHRS team, such as smoking/vaping; physical activity/inactivity; diet/food insecurity. Priority areas include studies of innovations promoting health and/or community services delivery in Alaska (e.g., telehealth; integrated behavioral health); especially those that benefit indigenous people and other vulnerable, under-served populations.
