Research Coordinator - UW Department of Health Services

LOCATION: Seattle, Wa

CLOSING DATE: open until filled

OPPORTUNITY TYPE: Job

JOB #: 16344

POSTED: September 22, 2020

Description:

The Department of Health Services has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Research Coordinator to work with the Health Promotion Research Center (HPRC), one of 26 Prevention Research Centers funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). HPRC conducts community-based research that promotes the health and well-being of middle-aged and older adults, particularly those with lower incomes and in ethnic/cultural minority populations most at risk of health disparities.

HPRC is home to the Alliance for Reducing Cancer, Northwest (ARC NW), a CDC and NCI-funded Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network (SIP 19-005). As a collaborating Network member center, ARC NW is engaged in several local and cross-center research activities, including work with the Washington State Department of Health on statewide cancer prevention and control projects. ARC NW is also a participating member of several state and regional cancer prevention task forces and committees.

The Research Coordinator will support and take on primary coordination responsibilities across our cancer prevention and control portfolio of projects. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for data collection, management, synthesis and reporting; providing implementation and evaluation assistance to project partners including WA DOH and partner health systems. Other responsibilities include coordinating communication within teams as well as across project partners; updating materials (intervention and measurement); and associated coordination tasks that arise during the project lifecycle.

The Research Coordinator position may also be involved in emergent projects resulting from HPRC’s partnerships.

Housed in the UW School of Public Health, the Department of Health Services is a dynamic academic and research department with the mission of working with partners in public health and health care to prepare leaders, design solutions, and conduct innovative research that is translated into practice and policy. The Department is steadfast in its efforts to improve and promote the health of all populations, and staff contribute daily and directly to the work of faculty, students, researchers and other staff, providing support and expertise to the Department’s common cause.
