Office of Communicable Disease Epidemiology, Washington State Department of Health

2 year project position, potentially extended dependent on grant funding.
Salary range: $7,035.55 - $9,221.10 Monthly (5% additional if a King County resident)

This position is homebased, with occasional travel to respond to outbreaks within Washington State.
Standard business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Alternative schedules may be

Description
The Washington State Department of Health is hiring a COVID-19 Outbreak Report Epidemiologist
Supervisor who will work in the COVID-19 Outbreak Response in Non-healthcare Congregate Settings
Program in the Office of Communicable Disease Epidemiology. This Epidemiologist 3 will supervise a
team of epidemiologists to perform the following activities including, but not limited to:

  • Design and implement COVID-19 non-healthcare setting outbreak reporting using multiple datasets of surveillance system, case investigation and contact tracing, and/or partner agency data.
  • Analyze outbreak data, provide summary statistics, and create reports to visualize trends of COVID-19 outbreaks in non-healthcare settings across Washington State.
  • Provide evidence-based recommendations to leadership at the Washington State Department of Health and Governor’s Office to directly inform new COVID-19 policies.

The successful candidate for this position will have a minimum of two years experience in public health
research and/or analysis, experience supervising others or managing projects, and intermediate or
advanced knowledge of R or another statistical software. Desired skills include good communication,
humility, ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment, and ability to handle multiple priorities.
