Position Summary

Job Title:  Nutrition and Food Equity Program Manager

Reports to:  Executive Director

Position Type:  Full Time, Exempt

Salary Range:  $48,000 - $56,000; Benefits include: Medical, Dental, Vision, 3% 401k contribution, generous holiday and paid time off accrual

Position Description

The Nutrition and Food Equity Program Manager will continue to develop and manage our Nutrition and Food Equity Program, including our state-wide curriculum, Abuela, Mamá y Yo (AMY). Our program is centered in the Latino community and collaborates with Latino serving organizations to effectively integrate nutrition, food equity, and advocacy initiatives into the Latino community. The Program Manager will collaboratively develop program strategy, cultivate and manage key relationships, and help facilitate and coordinate a state-wide Nutrition and Food Equity Program. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and expand our Nutrition and Food Equity Program.
  • Manage the delivery of program goals and ensure compliance with grants.
  • Supervise and assist program staff to execute deliverables, while establishing performance goals, ensuring progress towards milestones, and providing coaching and feedback.
  • Implement and manage Train-the-Trainers training and events across the state.
  • Oversee the development and activities of the AMY Community Council.
  • Manage program evaluation including data collection, reporting, and recommendations to improve the program.
  • Develop communication strategies including the “Abuela, Mamá y Yo” Newsletter.
  • Build, establish, and nurture partnerships with other organizations that share equity values and that can promote and collaborate with Familias en Acción.
  • Explore public policies that impact Latino families and seek opportunities for advocacy and systems change.
  • Participate in meetings and activities related to Latino health equity.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date expertise on nutrition and food equity as it relates to Latino health.
  • Other responsibilities as needed.

Working Conditions

  • Occasional work on evenings and weekends and travel to outreach locations is required
  • Employment dependent on passing a background check
  • Ability to lift 10-20 lbs
  • Frequent use of keyboard, monitor, mouse, telephone and/or headset
Skills/Eligibility:
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in health, education, social work, or related field
  • Bicultural and Bilingual in English and Spanish with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Experience working with Latino families, delivering nutrition education classes and or community events
  • Experience and knowledge of cultural values and food equity for Latinos
  • Minimum of five years of experience in teaching or coordinating classes, human services, healthcare, or social services with knowledge of working with the Latino community
  • Ability and willingness to work as a team member and support Familias en Acción’s mission
  • Self-motivated and the ability to work independently with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Three years of robust project and budget management
  • Strong, analytical problem solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially in cross-cultural settings with demonstrated ability to build relationships quickly
  • Ability to coordinate the production of high quality deliverables either directly or through project management of other team members
