Description:

The COVID in Pregnancy Expanded Surveillance (CIPES) project is a new activity structured around state-level implementation of the CDC COVID reporting pregnancy module. The goal of this project is to establish expanded surveillance to identify and describe the effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection across the course of pregnancy through delivery; and use this information to develop programs and activities that prevent adverse SARS-CoV-2 outcomes from the pre- and perinatal periods. CIPES project is housed within the Washington State Department of Health (DOH)’s Zoonotic, Vector-borne, and Cross-cutting Disease Program, which seeks to protect and improve the health of all Washingtonians using a One Health approach involving intra- and inter-agency collaborations for effective disease surveillance and response. Our cross-cutting approach offers big-picture capacity, including molecular epidemiology, data linkage, surge support, and field readiness.

This position will support ongoing CIPES project work with data management and analysis, supported by the existing CIPES project coordinator.

The successful candidate for this position will have experience in public health surveillance, descriptive data analysis using R programming, data cleaning and quality control, and data management. The candidate will ideally have some experience working with and linking large datasets, as well as working in REDCap. Project activities will include working with the project coordinator in overseeing data collection, entry and quality control checks, implementing survey sampling frameworks, and collaborating with the project coordinator to establish linkages to other state datasets. This position will also participate in data transmission and reporting to CDC, data manipulation and statistical analysis, healthcare provider outreach and reporting related to the risks of SARS-CoV-2 infection in pregnancy and at delivery.
