Description:

The Pacific Northwest Agricultural Safety and Health (PNASH) Center housed in the School of Public Health’s Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, located in the Hans Rosling Center for Population Health. The PNASH Center conducts research and promotes best health and safety practices for Northwest producers and workers in farming, fishing and forestry.

General Duties/Description:

The Student Assistant will support PNASH Center staff and faculty in the daily administration of the Center and projects. The Student Assistant will often work independently and will take on both long and short-term tasks. Summer-Fall 2021 work will focus on preparation of our 5-year Center grant application to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This work includes page formatting, budget calculation review, and requires careful organization and version control of documents. You will work in a team environment and closely with our investigators.

Typical work will include triaging the main PNASH email and phone line, maintaining and organizing contact databases and resource inventories, assisting in the preparation, distribution and tracking of materials and reports, and assistance to PNASH investigators and projects as needs emerge. The Student Assistant will also be in charge of updating the Ag Injury News database including the submission of cases and communications back to PNASH investigators on a monthly basis. The Student Assistant will also have the opportunity to assist in program evaluation activities, development of public communication products, and research projects. This work is conducted in collaboration with a team of investigators, other students, and staff.

We are open to having this position become a work study eligible position in any quarter throughout the duration of employment.

$16.69 per hour.  Work schedule to be determined in conjunction with supervisor.

Skills/Eligibility:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and work well as part of a team.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Additional desirable qualifications include Spanish language, a background in office work and an interest in Administration (business or nonprofit), Environmental Health and/or the Northwest farming, commercial fishing, or forestry industries.
