The Research Department studies how gun violence occurs in America and identifies the best policies and interventions to prevent and address it. The Fellow will need to analyze and communicate about the various types of gun violence and how it impacts diverse communities, including communities of color and those who reside in cities, differently. This is a temporary, full-time position. 

 Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Contribute to research that shines light on the disproportionate impacts of gun violence in this country on cities and communities of color
• Collect, clean, and analyze city-level gun violence and social science data 
• Monitor, critically analyze, and communicate emerging research on local gun violence prevention strategies
• Conduct literature reviews, quality assurance, and original research to support Everytown’s advocacy campaigns
• Contribute to drafts of analytically rigorous memos, policy briefs, and other work products related to gun violence prevention research
• Generate both day-to-day and longer-term research on gun violence prevention in the US for a wide range of audiences
• Serve as the research representative on internal working groups (e.g., regional legislation, city engagement)

Qualifications

• Social Science (e.g., criminology, public health) Masters Degree with a concentration in research methodology, and/or at least two years of full-time, social science research work experience
• Exceptional ability to critically analyze and apply methods and results of research studies
• Moderate to advanced skills in large dataset statistical analysis and/or visualization (e.g., FBI, CDC, Census)
• Demonstrated strong applied research writing skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to carefully vet public-facing materials
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to a fast-paced, high-intensity environment
• Excellent judgment and communication skills
