Description:

The University of Washington Nutritional Sciences Program prepares students to improve individual and population health through the study of foods, nutrients, dietary behaviors, health outcomes, and food and policy environments. The Program offers the Food Systems, Nutrition, and Health major (BA) and Nutrition minor; graduate degrees including the MS, MPH, and PhD; and graduate level training leading to the Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) professional credential.

The Nutritional Sciences program is accepting applications for 1 hourly graduate student assistant (approximately 5-10 hours per week) from July 1 through September 15 to support faculty in the preparation and delivery of undergraduate and graduate instruction.

Duties include:

  • Organize and update Canvas sites for NUTR courses.
  • Provide technical support for Canvas, Panopto and other applications to record lectures with captions.
  • Provide input on course and Canvas site design for hybrid or in person learning.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Compensation:

  • The pay rate for hourly positions is $21.00 per hour. Weekly hours will vary based on workload and will be paid according to hours reported on a timesheet. Hourly positions do not qualify for tuition or insurance benefits.

Skills/Eligibility:
  • Graduate or professional students in nutrition, public health, or related disciplines.
    • Graduate and professional students registered for 4 credits in SUM.
    • PhD candidates working on dissertation registered for 2 credits in SUM.
    • Granted on leave status or previously registered in SPR.
  • Prospective employees will need to complete a sexual misconduct declaration form.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Canvas.
  • Prior teaching assistant or course development experience.
  • Technical and troubleshooting experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
