Description:

The Office of the Dean in the School of Public Health, is seeking a full-time Associate Director of Career Development who will work in Student Academic Services (SAS).  SAS works to enhance the experience for students in the School by fostering a vibrant school community and providing the support and resources necessary for success. This mission is accomplished through co-curricular programming that complements student’s academics and facilitates their involvement in research and service.

In partnership with and under the general oversight of the Director of Student Academic Services, the Associate Director of Career Development provides leadership in the development and execution of career resources for current and former students of the School, and engages community partners to foster relationships that advance connections to the PH workforce and practice community. This newly created position connects with faculty, the public health practice community and other stakeholders to advance career development opportunities for public health. The Associate Director works to promote and advance equity, diversity and inclusion within the area of career services for public health and to establish and maintain a culture of collaboration and innovation. This position will partner closely with the Dean and the Director of Student Academic Services to strategically lead career development within the School.

Skills/Eligibility:

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in higher education, counseling, public health or related field, plus 5 years of experience offering career counseling to students. A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in career services including management and/or supervisory roles.

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

  • The Associate Director of Career Services will have a background that provides sufficient depth to reach and exceed the responsibilities of the position. They will be a student focused leader, committed to providing accessible, best practice services. They will be constantly engaged in growing their own ability to manage and vision the work of career services and commit to contributing to an inclusive climate within the School.
  • Experience leading initiatives and/or directing the work of staff and student staff, developing and managing budgets, collecting and acting on program data to promote effective plans and actions.
  • Experience working with and engaging diverse stakeholders (faculty, staff, students and larger community) successfully.
  • Experience designing, organizing, and leading workshops, meetings, events and/or seminars in an inclusive, interactive, and culturally respectful manner.
  • Effective organizing, planning, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
    Effective team worker and collaborator.
  • Able to work independently, apply critical thinking and problem solving skills and prioritize tasks in a high-volume environment
  • Awareness and understanding of the public health field and the root causes of health and educational disparities among under represented communities
  • Proficiency with information technology appropriate to career services offices.
