NATURE OF ORGANIZATION
The Evans School’s International Program in Public Health Leadership (IPPHL) equips leaders with the skills of
analysis, leadership, communication, and persuasion that enable them to advance population health in this
increasingly complex, resource-constrained environment. Each year, 40 African public health professionals
participate in the Evans School’s 8-month program which consists of four parts: 1) eight weeks of distance
learning, 2) a two-week residency (typically in Seattle, but remote in 2022 due to COVID-19), 3) 10 weeks of
additional distance learning, and 4) a week-long capstone residency (typically in an African location, but remote
in 2022 due to COVID-19). Fellows focus on developing a policy project related to their work, integrating
leadership and policy skills, applying and analyzing complex public policy problems, and learning innovative
management frameworks and tools. The program is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The International Program in Public Health Leadership is seeking a part-time work-study student to contribute
to the success of the program: • Support the facilitation of remote course planning and implementation with
activities including technical troubleshooting, material preparation, and international shipping • Design
marketing and communication material across all program areas including the development of program
brochures and social media campaigns • Respond to emails from international program applicants and
participants, providing support and clarification on the admissions and intake process • Support the collection
and entry of applicant and participant data throughout the program cycle. • Support in the general administration
of the program’s digital platforms including the Canvas course site and the alumni WordPress site. (e.g.,
uploading course content, sharing program resources, etc…) • Assist team with special projects and activities as
assigned

Skills/Eligibility:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications • Position is only open to both graduate and undergraduate students with work-study
eligibility. Student MUST have work study authorization - Must be available to work 10-19 hours per week for
the duration of the 2021- 2022 academic year, October 1 to June 10 • Strong technical and computer skills (ex:
Microsoft Office/SharePoint, Excel etc.) • Competency in working with diverse populations • Excellent written
communication skills (responding to emails, drafting content for marketing emails or fliers, etc.) • Organized,
conscientious, punctual, willing to pitch in where needed • Must be able to work independently and on a team •
Ability to quickly learn how to navigate and maintain databases Preferred Qualifications • Previous customer
service and/or office management experience • Experience with graphic design (ex. Canva, Adobe InDesign,
Photoshop) and basic HTML skills (WordPress) are desirable. Work hours are flexible and based around your
class schedule.- Knowledge of or interest in, a career in public service or public health, the Evans School MPA,
and/or international issues are a plus.
