Job Summary
The Center for Land-Based Learning is seeking a full-time Veteran Coordinator. This position reports to the Apprenticeship Program Manager and is part of the Apprenticeship team. This person will also work closely with the California Farm Academy Program Director and CFA Program Managers.
The Veteran Coordinator will work to recruit, build relationships with, and support veterans as they train in agriculture through our various California Farm Academy programs. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of military culture, experience and understanding of how to help veterans translate their military experience into work skills, and help them achieve their goals in agriculture. Currently, and at times in the future, the Veteran Coordinator will also support outreach for non-veterans. The position will be based out of the Center for Land-Based Learning’s office at 40140 Best Ranch Road, Woodland, CA. This is a hybrid position, and during the Covid-19 pandemic, this position will be able to work remotely some days of the week. Some travel and overnight stays, and weekend work will occasionally be required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct outreach to recruit veterans (and support with non-veterans) into the California Farm Academy programs
- Build relationships with veteran-serving organizations in the state
- Review and process veteran applications
- Lead veteran interviews and selection
- Conduct regularly scheduled check-ins and farm visits with veterans
- Coordinate and perform veteran case management, tracking, paperwork, and evaluation activities
- Collect program feedback from communication with veterans
- Support employers and staff with cultural training relating to veterans
- Connect veterans with community resources and veteran support organizations around the state
- Assist with Land-Based Learning events (fundraisers, donor appreciation events, open houses, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned

Hours, Benefits, and Compensation
The Veteran Coordinator is a full-time, hourly position. The hourly wage range is $22-24.50 per hour, and include medical and dental benefits; vacation, sick and holidays.
Skills/Eligibility:Desired Attributes
- The ability to communicate in Spanish
- Personal or in-depth knowledge of the military service member experience
- A background in either formal or informal educational programs
- A background in sustainable agriculture, or other agricultural related experience
- Experience with building a new project from the ground up, or expanding a program
- Comfort with calling, emailing and speaking to a wide range of partners and people
- An ability and willingness to be flexible with tasks assigned
- Moderate to advanced computer skill, especially with Microsoft Office suite, Google G Suite, web browsers, social media, and email
- Willingness to work odd hours and weekends as necessary
