Description:

Good Cheer is seeking a Warehouse Coordinator to join our food bank staff. The Warehouse Coordinator will support our food sourcing and distribution streams and make sure supplies are sorted, rotated, and inventoried. This role requires indoor and outdoor work, collaboration with diverse stakeholders, and the flexibility to switch attention between various tasks and priorities throughout the day.

Essential Functions
● Maintain the flow and rotation of food & supplies
○ Receive, unload, and process donations,
○ Rotate inventory, stock shelves, and set appropriate point values and limits
○ Collaborate with partners, donors, and staff to arrange and schedule donations
○ Evaluate supply vs. demand, process as much overstock as time and capacity allows, and provide surplus to community partners
○ Support waste-reduction efforts in the kitchen and food bank
● Promote fresh produce and nutritious choices
○ Maintain signage and presentation of fresh foods
○ Coordinate special deals to promote overstocked produce
○ Participate in nutrition policy decisions and implementation
● Track & document food supplies
○ Maintain records of food received, distributed, disposed of, or processed
○ Promote sorting, labeling, and organizing of workspaces and storage for transparency and ease of access for volunteers and staff
● Support volunteer involvement in the food bank store, warehouse, and kitchen
○ Train, delegate, supervise, and assist food bank volunteers
○ Ensure the ongoing safety and cleanliness of food storage and preparation areas
● Other duties and projects as needed

This is a full time, year round position. Starting pay is $14.50/hour, with a review after 6 months of employment.

Skills/Eligibility:

Necessary Skills & Qualifications
● Excellent written and oral communication skills
● Ability to work independently as well as part of a diverse and collaborative team
● Strong analytical problem solving and organizational skills
● Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly
● ANSI accredited Food Protection Manager Certification and current WA Food Worker Card (or willingness to attain these upon hire)

Desired Skills & Qualifications
● Supermarket training or background (especially produce departments or farmer’s markets)
● Computer savvy, with familiarity in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets)
● Experience managing volunteers
● Food storage and preservation knowledge (pickling, dehydrating, canning)
● Conflict management skills
