Job Announcement – Food Security Impact Manager

Job Summary:

United Way of King County is committed to ensuring everyone has access to healthy and culturally appropriate food. We do this by leveraging federal nutrition programs, partnering with emergency food providers, and working on policies and programs that promote food justice.

The Impact Manager will lead our Community Food Fund, DoorDash Home Delivery, and Emergency Food and Shelter Programs. They will be responsible for stewarding these programs and building new relationships to reduce hunger and racial disparities. The role also supervises a minimum of one staff and indirectly supervises AmeriCorps members. Additional staff may be added to the team.

This is a grant funded position that is currently expected to go through March 2023. The annual recruiting salary range is $67,500 - $71,500 DOE. This position is open until filled; first consideration will be given to applications received within two weeks of posting.

Essential Duties:

Community Food Fund: 50%

• Leads design and implementation of $4-5M grant making initiative to increase food security among people impacted by the pandemic.
• Manages RFP process to select grantees in partnership with local government and food security expert (both lived experience and programmatic experience).
• Manages subgrantee contracts, technical assistance, evaluation, and compliance with federal guidance. 

DoorDash Home Delivery Program: 25%

• Leads strategy for scaling and sustaining DoorDash Home Delivery Program to serve 5,000 households weekly.
• Develops new and stewarding existing partnerships.
• Ensures that the DoorDash Program is reducing food insecurity among BIPOC led families by developing strategies to increase culturally appropriate meals.
• Manages DoorDash Program Coordinator and other staff responsible for program implementation.
• Partners with Development and Brand departments for steward relationships with individual donors and foundations. Identifies public and private grant opportunities. Leads grant writing, reporting, and compliance efforts.

Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP): 15%

• Serves as liaison between United Way Worldwide EFSP team, Local Board, and Grantees.
•  Leads distribution of federal EFSP funds including managing RFP process, technical assistance, monitoring, and reporting.
• Manages EFSP Local Board including engagement of Lived Experience Coalition.
• Engages partners, grantees, and community leaders in developing an equitable distribution of EFSP funding.

• Demonstrated knowledge of federal nutrition programs, public benefits, and financial stability best practices.
• Intermediate level proficiency in MS Office and MS Excel

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training or experience is required. Must have two years’ experience in project/program coordination, administration, project management, volunteer coordination or other relevant field. Prior knowledge of hunger and nutrition initiatives preferred.

Protecting the health and safety of our communities is a top priority. Due to the circumstances surrounding the pandemic, all interviews will be conducted remotely for the time being. We will provide candidates selected for interviews with all the required instructions. If you are hired for the position, you will start off working remotely. United Way of King County values workplace flexibility. Our office is currently closed, and staff are working remotely until October 18, 2021. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation as well as the overall health of our community and we may adjust the office opening date as needed. When our office does reopen, we will offer a hybrid approach combining in-office work and remote work for our staff.
