Summary


Public Health-Seattle & King County Medical Examiner’s Office is looking for students enrolled full-time who are interested in the work conducted in our office. This includes testing samples for drugs, entering data into a drug surveillance database, autopsy, interviewing families who have lost a loved one due to overdose, and other tasks. Based on interests and program needs, students may do as few as two or as many as all of these activities.

Job Duties

 

  • Perform data collection, entry and analysis.
  • Perform testing of suspected drug substances.
  • Perform testing of decedent blood.
  • Assist forensic pathologists in opening, eviscerating, collecting specimens, and closing bodies
  • Ensure chain of custody/evidence for all items 
  • Wash and prepare decedents
  • Photograph and X-ray decedents
  • Perform custodial maintenance for the autopsy room, storage area, and coolers.
  • Assist with various other office processes.

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student

Hourly Rate:
Undergraduate Intern - $17.77
Graduate Intern -$20.01
 
Work Schedule:  Interns work between 12 and 16 hours per week. While we strive to have flexibility to work around school schedules, some types of work, such as autopsy, require morning availability.
Work Location: These positions will be based at Harborview Medical Center, Medical Examiner’s Office located at 908 Jefferson St. Seattle WA 98104.
