Your Role:

We seek a self-directed, reliable, energetic and insightful person with broad understanding of the health care environment and a focus on health care information technology to serve in a full-time role as a Consultant. You will be a key member of the Technology Strategy Group. The Technology Strategy Group equips communities to leverage technology to meet their goals for integrating systems of care, with a focus on solutions at the dynamic intersection of health care and other allied sectors. We provide our clients with in-depth expertise in data and technology standards, industry best practices, and the vendor landscape, frequently bridging between communities and their vendor partners. We add value to the entire technology adoption lifecycle -- assessing needs and capabilities, architecting design options, managing procurements, and overseeing implementations.

Core desired skill sets for this position include knowledge and interest in expanding your expertise in key health IT subject matter and a core competency, interest and prior experience in technical and/or vendor project management in healthcare and/or social services fields. Prior experience in fast-paced consulting or similar work environments is preferred.

This role features immersive teamwork requiring exceptional collaboration skills, both as an individual contributor on projects led by others, and as a project leader managing Intrepid staff members, subcontractors, and client resources / vendors:

  • Serve as a valuable team player, supporting client engagements across the firm’s portfolio of work, providing project management of workstream activities throughout the project lifecycle;
  • Develop subject matter expertise and analytical skills across Intrepid Ascent practice areas (data strategy, technology adoption, collaboration across sectors, and governance);    
  • Support consulting engagements through research, analysis of information, and contributions to the development of high-quality work products, such as assessments, presentations, and other documents including proposals for new business.

What you will do:

  • Conduct health data system implementation project management, including coordinating with client and vendor teams;
  • Gather and document business and functional requirements for the use of technology systems in client contexts; 
  • Evaluate and provide input on health information technology assessments and projects that include topics such as: health data interoperability, health data standards development and implementation, data management and analytics, security, and general technology trends and best practices;
  • Align technical expertise with broader understanding of health care business and policy environments to generate insights supporting innovation in the field;
  • Review, interpret, and analyze federal and state privacy laws and regulations, including research and analysis of current guidance and best practices;
  • Provide technical assistance and/or training to clients on governance, data sharing, health information laws, policies, and best practices;
  • Engage in professional growth activities, such as reading industry material, attending conferences and educational events, online courses and webinars, knowledge transfer with other staff, and utilizing learning resources from relevant professional organizations; 
  • Work closely team members to accomplish the goals, objectives and strategic plans for the company, continually seek opportunities to add value;
  • Design and develop analytic models using Excel, SQL, and/or Tableau to provide decision-support for consulting projects; and
  • Generate client deliverables from scope development to output generation.

  • Health Information Technology Expertise: Previous experience enabling users of health IT systems to effectively access and share data for improved quality of care, including a willingness to serve as a “translator” between client needs and the capabilities of their vendors, applying appropriate knowledge and experience to allow clients to continuously improve their own Health IT environments.
  • Public Health Interest: Commitment to public health objectives for underserved populations; strong understanding of safety-net programs (esp. Medicaid), community health centers, public hospitals, and managed care/value-based care; understanding of social determinants of health and intersection of social services and health care services.

  • Bachelor’s degree with a quantitative, healthcare, business or technical focus preferred;
  • 1-3 years of professional experience performing analytics role at a health plan, technology vendor, consulting firm, hospital system or other relevant experience. Demonstrated knowledge of or expertise in project management processes, including managing day-to-day operations, planning project resources, assembling and leading a project team, client and stakeholder management, meeting facilitation, maintaining work plans and timelines, ensuring effective coordination with clients and team members,, issue and risk management, project schedule and progress monitoring, deliverables tracking, reporting and documentation, and evaluation of project risks;
  • Ability to understand client and/or stakeholder needs and expectations and respond appropriately;
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with the ability to master new topics and ideas quickly;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce professional written documents, visual diagrams, and reports;
  • Familiarity with the role of technology in enabling new modes of collaboration in health care and allied fields such as social services, housing supports, behavioral health services, and others;
