Internship purpose: 

The Grants Intern will support our Grants Manager for 20-25 hours per week with research and writing/organization of private and government grants. We are looking for a creative and passionate individual who can identify potential new funders and help build a system to streamline the grant writing and grant management process. 

Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Foundation and Grant Research

    • Research and identify new grant opportunities, ranging from small family foundations to complex international funders, quasi-governmental agencies, and government agencies

  • Grant writing/organization

    • Support the Grants Manager in building a Grants FAQs to streamline grant writing

    • Support with writing Letters of Intent to potential grant partners and buildout of grant proposals using CHOOSE 180 content

  • Research and Data

    • Support Grants Manager in finding data points that support grant proposals.  Topics include community-led diversion, BIPOC youth disproportionality in the legal system, mental health, incarceration and trauma.

Desired qualifications for this position:

  • Commitment to the vision and goals of CHOOSE 180, specifically anti-racism and prioritizing the voices of individuals most impacted by mass incarceration. 

  • Experience conducting and analyzing research via scholarly articles, reports, etc.

  • Knowledge and proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel), Google Drive/Docs

  • Significant skill in oral, written and interpersonal communication 

  • Ability to manage timelines, plan accordingly and meet critical deadlines 

  • Ability to work resourcefully in the absence of detailed instruction 

  •  Demonstrated knowledge of and respect for cultural influences of underserved youth and young adults, including youth and young adults of color from a variety of backgrounds

Working Compensation and benefits:

CHOOSE 180 is committed to providing valuable and equitable internship opportunities offering competitive compensation, hands-on learning experiences and professional development.  The compensation for this internship is $6,840 for a total of 380 hours over 19 weeks. This intern will also receive a $50 monthly wellness stipend and an Employee Assistance Program which offers access to 3 free counseling sessions.
