Overview:  Aggregate Analytics, Inc. (AAI) is a multifaceted research organization with an established track record of providing high quality evidence-based medicine products.  AAI is contracted with the Washington State Health Care Authority to serve as a Technology Assessment Center (TAC) to provide in-depth Technology Assessment (TA) reports. The AAI team is part of the Pacific Northwest Evidence-based Practice Center and provides comparative effectiveness reviews and systematic reviews on a range of medically-related topics for a variety of clients including international foundations, government agencies and clinician groups. Reports are used to inform healthcare policy and clinical practice guidelines.

Job Summary: 
This position involves taking an active role in the management and performance of formal systematic reviews and technology assessments based on procedures and templates provided and working with some nice people to improve health care and inform health policy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Systematic Reviews (SR) and Health Technology Assessments (HTA)
Performs systematic literature searches (including gray literature) on select topics based on accepted methodology; identifies and acquires appropriate references; critically appraises and summarizes articles and study characteristics; accurately abstracts data; synthesizes information and results in a way that answers specific clinical or epidemiologic questions using appropriate tables, figures and text sections and adapts templates to the question; prepares and maintains reference package (EndNote); performs some statistical analysis and documentation of any secondary analysis; and assures quality by responding to editorial comments/questions and checking the finished editorial work. Depending on role, create and give formal presentations. There may be opportunities to expand responsibilities and roles on projects based on aptitudes and interest.

Meets project deadlines without compromising editorial quality or technical accuracy. Responds to program manager’s and/or director’s requests for information, as necessary. Communicates with program manager and director on anticipated deadlines and status of all aspects of the projects. Works well with others and independently.

Job Requirements:

  • Masters’ degree in epidemiology, public health, health services, a medically-related field or related discipline with experience doing systematic literature searches, data analysis and synthesis of information from multiple sources, and medical/technical writing; OR completion of all but thesis/dissertation; OR doctoral student in one of the above disciplines with such experience; OR doctoral degree in one of the above disciplines with such experience; OR 5 years’ experience in the performance of methodologically sound systematic reviews, comparative effectiveness reviews and/or technology assessments.
  • Understanding of epidemiologic research methods, sources of bias, measures of disease frequency and risk, their application and interpretation; ability to calculate and interpret epidemiologic measures (e.g., RR, OR); ability to critically appraise literature based on epidemiologic principles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • General familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Access to and ability to use EndNote, the medical literature, MEDLINE (and other data bases) as well as Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable:  Course work and/or critical appraisal experience with formal economic analysis; experience in performing meta-analysis.
