Our Public Health Informatics Specialist (Epidemiologist 3, Non-Medical) will:

  • Apply collaborative approaches and an understanding of Public Health sciences to support activities required for data normalization, restructuring, and modeling.
  • Be a Subject Matter Expert – provide advanced level informatics support and champion continuous improvement of public health information systems.
  • Be Innovative – create collaborative solutions for systems & tools needed for a responsive public health data infrastructure.
  • Lead Others – engage with partners to assess, manage, and communicate changes.

 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Make expert public health informatics knowledge available and give direction to teams within PCH, including division-level, offices, and programs; and liaise with internal and external partners.
  • Contributing to the successful development of multi-use analytic data repositories in the Azure Cloud or SQL Server environments; and collaborating with IT on appropriate self-service analytic tools for public health and data scientists. 
  • Provide technical consultation or support related to HL7/FHIR standards, policies, and implementation. 
  • Develop or design data products and workflows using MS-SQL server; use R, Python, or SAS for specialized end-user needs. 
  • Share processes and findings with technical, professional and general audiences through presentation, writing and internet-based data-sharing platforms.

 
Our Public Health Informatics Specialist (Epidemiologist 3) will work closely with other Office of the Assistant Secretary (OAS) leadership to serve the diverse needs of Washington residents, tying equity into policy and planning and connecting strategies and goals across offices. Collaborate with Division leadership in strategic planning and goals for informatics, data modernization, and public health information system innovation.  
 

This is a permanent full-time Epidemiologist 3 position.
