Build Leadership Skills and Gain Unparalleled Experience in the Field and Public Health Labs

CDC’s Laboratory Leadership Service (LLS) is looking for PhD laboratory scientists who aspire to develop leadership skills, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and apply laboratory expertise to help solve real-world public health problems, advancing their careers in the process.

Interested students and alumni should plan to attend one of their informational webinars on April 17th (9am ET) or April 18th (3pm ET).

Program staff and current fellows will be available to answer any questions about LLS, the application, or what to expect from the selection process.  to learn about the program, the application process, hear experiences from fellows/alumni, and get your questions answered.

Fellows have a breadth of opportunities to apply their expertise while working in a CDC, state or local public health lab.

You could be the next disease detective to collaborate with CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) or other public health experts on an emergency response, lead a laboratory capacity-building project, or provide expert and critical laboratory support to partners during a short-term deployment.

 

Skills/Eligibility:

To be eligible for LLS, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a doctoral-level degree in a laboratory related discipline (e.g., microbiology, molecular biology, organic chemistry, environmental chemistry, genetics, bioinformatics); other health professionals are welcome to apply, but you must also hold a relevant doctoral-level degree.
  • U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident status at the time of application
  • Defend thesis or dissertation before March 31 of the year you enter LLS
