Under the direction of the Surveillance and Evaluation (S&E) Section Manager, the Epidemiologist 3 provides epidemiologic leadership, coordination and expertise in surveillance and evaluation activities of Drug Overdose Prevention, Suicide Prevention, and all other Injury and Violence Prevention (IVP) WA State programs. You’ll be responsible for prioritizing cross collaboration between the S&E IVP team and the IVP Program/Subject Matter Expert (SME) team to ensure program partner data needs are addressed and grant funded expectations are met.
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervising program analytic staff and leading the development and production of a high quality quarterly analytic dataset.
  • Implementing key program analytic projects including addition of measures to DOH public data portal based on input from IVP program staff and subject matter experts, state and local partners.
  • Designing, conducting, and disseminating data to evaluate legislative changes to the drug overdose, suicide prevention, sexual violence, and other injury programs to enhance evidence-based and evidence-informed decision making.
  • Serving as a technical liaison for the Office and Division regarding the Injury and Violence prevention program.

 
 
The duty station for this position is in Tumwater, WA. The incumbent will work with their supervisor to establish a work schedule that may include telework in addition to mainly reporting to the Tumwater duty station for work activities.
