Research Coordinator - UW Department of Health Systems and Population Health

The Department of Health Systems and Population Health is Seeking a full time Research Coordinator. The Research Coordinator will provide strategic research and administrative coordination for the new Center for Anti-Racism and Community Health (ARCH). This position will support the successful development and implementation of an anti-racist research portfolio to actualize the ARCH Center’s vision and mission.
The ARCH Center’s vision is that legacies of colonialism in systems and structures will be eradicated and no longer confer nor limit access to optimal health and well-being among certain populations. Its research and actions are oriented around the disruption of racist mechanisms rooted in white supremacy culture norms that perpetuate anti-Blackness, anti-Indigeneity, and coloniality across identity spaces to expand the conceptualization, discourse, and venues for rectifying power imbalances in service to the liberation of all peoples.
Using anti-racism, critical race theory, and community-based participatory research (CBPR) principles and frameworks, the Research Coordinator will support the ARCH Center in its work to collaboratively create, implement, and evaluate organizational and community change strategies to improve the experiences and outcomes of communities facing structural racism. This position will work with affiliated faculty, staff, students, and partners to: identify and define research priorities; co-design approaches for participatory action research, select appropriate quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods methodologies to be used; design specific projects phases, collect and analyze data develop conclusions and hypotheses; support the creation of research products including manuscripts, white papers, policy briefs, and media. This position will coordinate multiple projects in the ARCH Center’s research portfolio and will also play a key role in obtaining and coordinating research grants. The Research Coordinator reports to the ARCH Center Research Scientist and will serve as liaison to funding agencies, community organizations, public and private institutions, affiliated faculty, staff, and students. Successful candidates will also have experience in: navigating complex systems; operating in collaborative work settings; engaging individuals, groups, and communities with respect, empathy, and cultural humility; and upholding the highest ethical professional standards.
