The Department of Health Systems and Population Health seeks a full-time Senior Graduate Program and Career Adviser (GPCA) to join the Interdisciplinary Program in Health Management and Informatics (HMI). Reporting to the Senior Associate Director for Operations, this position oversees the delivery of professional development programming and academic and career advising to students in the Masters of Health Administration (Executive MHA and In-Residence MHA) and the Masters of Health Informatics and Health Information (MHIHIM) degree programs and manage admissions processes for the HMI graduate programs.

The Senior GPCA will develop strategic, cohesive, and innovative approaches to admissions, student development and advising across the distinct degree programs and provide leadership and direction to a team of two Graduate Program and Career Advisers, each with significant independent responsibility for their own advising & programming. This position will work to build and direct a collaborative and unified team of cross-functional GPCA staff working across a wide variety of functions (e.g., skill development, career advancement, organizational research, community partnerships, project management, event planning, etc.). Essential to the long-term success of the Program are strong relationships with the local and regional health services community and Program alumni. This position will design development and advising activities that work towards enhancing existing relationships and building new opportunities for collaboration.

In addition to leading the HMI GPCA team, this position will also be the dedicated academic advisor for Executive MHA (EMHA) students, developing and delivering programming tailored to this student population. In this capacity, the Senior GPCA will advise students on program curriculum and facilitate mentorship opportunities for matriculated Executive MHA students. In collaboration with the Program’s faculty leadership, the Senior GPCA will facilitate networking and other development opportunities between EMHA students and faculty, alumni, mentors and professionals in the regional healthcare community. This position will balance direction coming from faculty leadership while reporting to the Senior Associate Director for Operations. The Sr. GPCA will work as part of a team to support the Health Management and Informatics degree programs. This position will work towards diversity, equity and inclusion goals within and for these programs and will be expected to know and contribute to the strategic goals of the Program, the Department, and the School of Public Health. Additionally, the Senior GPCA will use independent judgment in interpreting and applying the rules and regulations of the Program, the Department of Health Systems and Population Health, and the University of Washington.
