As a Pharmacist Investigator you will:

  • Receive and process requests for consultation and technical assistance.
  • Review programs, policies, and applications for compliance.
  • Track and analyze data to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
  • Promote voluntary compliance of drug laws and rules relating to pharmaceutical practice in Washington State.
  • Proactively participate in the team efforts of commission members, pharmacy staff, and pharmacist inspectors.
  • Assist in pharmacy inspections.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Independently performing comprehensive practice and/or compliance reviews as ordered by the department and Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission within Health Systems Quality Assurance under the supervision of the Executive Director for the Commission.  Use clinical pharmacy skills and a comprehensive knowledge base including pharmacy law, recordkeeping requirements, drug-delivery systems, and standards of practice.
  • Provide expert consultation regarding pharmacy practice, drug law, appropriate acquisition and distribution of drugs, and healthcare-related best practices in a variety of settings, and to customers and partners.
  • Provide technical assistance to both internal and external customers, and partners relating to pharmacy practice and pharmaceuticals.

The incumbent may be located anywhere within the State of Washington. Telework (mobile-work) is expected. When approved, the incumbent will work with their supervisor to identify an appropriate work schedule and balance, including telework and reporting to the Tumwater duty station for work activities. The incumbent would be expected to attend in-person commission meetings approximately every 8 weeks and will also be expected to train to do inspections and conduct some inspections as required. This would need to be a conversation between the hiring supervisor and the incumbent.
