About Tubman Health 

The Tubman Center for Health and Freedom is a community organization committed to the principles of healing and people’s liberation from systems that make us unwell. We work to advance health justice, culturally appropriate care, and integrative medicine. We are a collective of community members laying the groundwork for an innovative community health clinic that specializes in meeting the needs of marginalized communities in Seattle’s Puget Sound region, The Tubman Center for Health and Freedom. Our full Center is slated to open in early 2027. 

We are named after the hero Harriet Tubman, who concentrated on both freeing people from systems of oppression that threatened their health as well as providing clinical care for patients as a Nurse in the Union army. We follow this same methodology of addressing health and wellness from both systemic and clinical approaches.

Responsibilities 

  • Provide mental health care therapy at our pilot community clinic (for people across the lifespan) and school-based health clinic (Middle and high school aged students), both are located in South Seattle. 
  • Work collaboratively with multiple specialty providers to develop treatment plans that meet patient’s goals. 
  • Provide therapy that centers the patient’s needs and desires for wellness and healing with a decolonizing/liberation pedagogy. 
  • Record keeping in the form of clinical documentation, as well as reporting for tracking and evaluation purposes 
  • Assist in the design and development of Tubman Health’s transformational healthcare model.

Qualifications 

  • Minimum of two years of experience 
  • A valid state license that is one of the following: LMFT, LMHC, LICSW 
  • A Master’s Degree MA/MS Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field 
  • Desire to work collaboratively with other healthcare providers in an integrated, holistic medical model 
  • Knowledge of and/or the ability to learn required electronic health record programs 
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of treatment plans
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with African American and/or Native community members 
  • Experience working in Black communities, in any capacity. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice. 
  • Ability to disclose/pass a Criminal Background Check 
  • Record keeping in the form of clinical documentation, as well as reporting for tracking and evaluation purposes. 
  • Assist in the design and development of Tubman Health’s transformational healthcare model. 
  • Valid WA State Driver’s license and reliable transportation 
  • Professional liability insurance

Compensation 

.75 FTE (32 hours a week) $75,000-85,000/yr. DOE. Excellent benefits include: Medical, Dental, Vision for employee/dependents at 100%/80%, $1,000 continuing education credit annually, 18 days of paid time off a year, on top of selected paid holidays, winter and summer breaks, and a 2% employer retirement contribution. A 3-year contract commitment would include a $3,000 signing bonus.
