Description:

The Global Center for Integrated Health of Women, Adolescents, and Children (Global WACh) in the Department of Global Health has an opportunity for a full-time (100% FTE) Research Scientist (listed as a Research Scientist/Engineer 4) who will initially support a project that aims to improve the translation of evidence into practice and describe determinants of evidence use (e.g. adoption of evidence-based interventions, EBIs) by public health policymakers in low-and-middle-income countries (LMICs).

The Research Scientist will lead the design of a mixed methods study design, qualitative data collection, qualitative analysis, and development of a conceptual model to test hypothesized factors influencing the adoption of EBIs in LMICs. The Research Scientist may engage in other qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis activities for other projects, as time allows.

  • Engage policy consultants including academic and non-academic experts based in LMICs.
  • Develop data collection materials (qualitative question guides, standard operating procedures, analysis plans) and draw from implementation science frameworks as appropriate.
  • Conduct key informant interviews with policymakers.
  • Manage data transcription and translation activities.
  • Conduct a qualitative analysis (preference for rapid qualitative data analysis skills).
  • Support development of interactive tools that consolidate study findings.

Reporting (15%)

Supervision (15%)

  • Provide supervision and management to 1-2 full-time staff or student employees.

  • Serve as a liaison between the staff and the relevant study PIs.

Other Duties (10%)
