Senior Environmental Management Specialist - Port of Seattle (Job)
Description:
As a Senior Environmental Management Specialist, you will provide solutions to moderately complex environmental issues by conducting inspections, reviews, and research, and analyzing data for annual metrics, tracking, and reporting.
- You will conduct and review specialized environmental studies and assist with developing scope, schedule, and budgets.
- You will conduct research to assist in integrating new or updated technologies and business practices that pertain to environmental and sustainability programs.
- You will conduct or lead complex research, field screening, testing, and inspections to monitor and report on regulatory thresholds for pollution levels to support compliance with regulations and permit requirements.
- You will compile and evaluate environmental data in Port-owned and operated properties, buildings and facilities, industry activities, and in support of established Port programs.
- You will develop educational and informational materials and conduct presentations regarding general environmental, noise, or sustainability issues to Port employees, stakeholders, and the public.
- You will actively participate in design and construction reviews to help identify and mitigate environmental impacts.
- You will contribute to the development and management of the budget for assigned projects/programs and support reporting requirements for grants.
- You will coordinate contract management with the Central Procurement Office by providing information needed for contracts, contract amendments, and service directives.
- You will participate and contribute to the development of environmental plans and strategies to accomplish environmental goals.
Skills/Eligibility:
- Experienced – You have two (2) years of environmental and/or sustainability experience.
- Desired – We hope you have a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Physical Sciences, Engineering, Economics, Environmental Management, Planning or Policy. We also hope you have any of the following licenses/certifications: Professional Geologist, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Energy Manager, Registered Architect American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), LEED Accredited Professional (LEED-AP), Project Management Professional (PMP), and/or Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS).
