Description:

The Safety Professional plays a key role in coordinating the Safety and Loss Control Program and ensuring compliance with all state, federal, and client requirements on projects. This position is responsible for conducting new-hire orientations, proactively communicating safety and loss control policies and procedures, providing information for weekly safety meetings, being accessible to answer safety-related questions or concerns, and providing additional training to workers, such as respirator training, forklift operation, and fall protection. The ideal candidate has a strong background in safety management, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a safe and compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct new-hire orientations.
  • Proactively communicate safety and loss control policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate/monitor substance abuse program.
  • Provide information for weekly safety meetings.
  • Continual hazard assessment.
  • Basic first-aid response.
  • Caring for injured workers, including transportation to and from appointments, maintaining direct communication with medical providers, and monitoring modified duty job placement.
  • Accident/incident investigations, reporting and recordkeeping.
  • Being accessible to answer any safety-related questions or concerns.
  • Providing additional training to workers i.e. respirator training, forklift operation, fall protection.

Relationships:

  • Maintain proactive and positive relationships within the crafts, including shop and field craft personnel.
  • Foster positive relationships with customer representatives, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, safety, CAD/BIM, accounting, IT, and all project teams.

Skills/Eligibility:

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the safety field.
  • Preferred: Experience in a lead safety role.
  • Associate degree or related experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Certified as a Competent Person for scaffolding, fall protection, and excavations.
  • First Aid/CPR Certified.
  • Completion of OSHA 10- and 30-hour training courses.
  • Valid driver’s license 

Necessary Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in hot climates and climb stairs and ladders daily.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of regulations to field construction environment.
  • Thorough understanding of state and federal regulations as they apply to job site safety.
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.
