Description:
The Department of Environmental Health Science in the College of Public Health at the University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor. This position is an academic year appointment (9 months) with an opportunity to supplement salary during the summer. The anticipated starting date for the position is August 1, 2026.
Successful candidates will be required to teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Candidates with exceptional qualifications may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.
Skills/Eligibility:
Qualifications include a doctoral degree in environmental health or a related discipline (e.g., biology, environmental science, toxicology, etc.) and relevant research publications. Appointments to the Associate Professor position require strong evidence of acquiring and administering external funding (current principal investigator with existing grants is preferred); strong evidence of ability to produce and communicate research; excellence in teaching and working with students; and at least two years of work experience after graduation with PhD (e.g., postdoctoral training or teaching).
We seek applicants with a strong academic record in teaching, research, and service in environmental health with a focus on computational analyses and One Health. Integrated research bridging human-, animal-, and/or environmental and ecological systems via computational and/or integrative –omics technologies is especially encouraged. Additional qualifications include: excellence in teaching and working with students, evidence of ability to submit strong (fundable) extramural grant proposals, and ability to produce and communicate research.
