Winter 2026 SPH 481 25% TA Position - SPH 481: Ethics, Social Justice, and Policy in Public Health (Student/ASE)
Description:
Position Summary: The Public Health-Global Health Major is seeking ONE 25% Teaching Assistants (TA), up to 10 hours per week, during Winter 2026. The TAs will support teaching of one offering of the undergraduate course SPH 481: Ethics, Social Justice, and Policy in Public Health, with anticipated course enrollment of 110 students. SPH 481 is an upper-division required course that considers how public health policies are developed and implemented from an ethics and justice perspective. The position is appropriate for graduate students in the School of Public Health with an interest in research and teaching.

Assist in course coordination and implementation

Attend all class sessions

Present some lectures and facilitate all assigned section discussions

Grade assignments

Host Facilitated Study Groups (2 hours/week) and hold student office hours (2 hrs/week)

Update and maintain course canvas site

Request or acquire necessary equipment

Prepare and maintain course participation records

Review literature

Other tasks, as necessary
Skills/Eligibility:
Required Qualifications: Minimum standing of current graduate student in the School of Public Health; satisfy a sexual misconduct background check
Preferred Qualifications: Prior TA experience; enthusiasm for teaching undergraduate students
