Safety Supervisor - Stella Jones (Job)
Description:
The Health and Safety Supervisor at the Stella-Jones manufacturing plant in Tacoma is responsible for ensuring Health and Safety compliance at the facility while also supporting a proactive culture of safety.
This is a full-time, on-site position, typically scheduled Monday through Friday on the second shift (4:00 pm to 12:00 am), with flexibility for occasional off-shift coverage as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and employee training
- Implement Health and Safety policies, programs, and procedures
- Perform accident and incident investigations
- Collaborate with and provide guidance to department supervisors and plant employees on safety and health matters
- Foster employee engagement in safety initiatives, including committee participation and continuous improvement activities
- Ensure accurate and timely Health and Safety reporting and recordkeeping
- Stay current on OSHA regulations and update policies as needed
- Participate in occasional travel to EHS training events
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills/Eligibility:
Candidates may qualify through one of three different paths:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or a related field (additional work experience a plus, but not required)
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus significant manufacturing or industrial safety work experience
- Extensive work experience in a related field with transferable safety, process and/or organizational skills
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office
- Experience in implementing safety management systems or programs preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to train and educate staff on environmental & safety protocols and regulations
- Teamwork and collaboration skills
- (Preferred) OSHA-authorized safety certifications applicable to industrial or wood products manufacturing, such as OSHA 30-hour General Industry, OSHA 511, or OSHA 510
