Environmental Health & Safety / Environmental, Social, & Governance Specialist - Microbiologics (Job)
Description:
The EHS & ESG Specialist is responsible for establishing and supporting Microbiologics’ global Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) programs. This position will lay the foundation for a comprehensive company-wide initiative focused on workplace safety, environmental stewardship, sustainability, and social responsibility. As the sole member of the EHS/ESG function, the EHS & ESG Specialist will work cross-functionally with the executive leadership team, site leaders, Safety Officers, and department teams to implement core compliance programs, maintain regulatory documentation, and support the company’s long-term ESG vision.
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)
• In collaboration with others, implement and maintain global EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• In collaboration with others, coordinate safety training, including onboarding, PPE use, emergency response, and laboratory safety topics.
• In collaboration with others, conduct safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and document findings and corrective actions.
• Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• In collaboration with others, maintain all safety documentation, including training records, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and regulatory logs.
• Coordinate chemical hygiene, waste management, and environmental compliance activities.
• Serve as the main point of contact for EHS questions and assist in preparing for audits or inspections.
• Partner with Safety Officers and site teams to reinforce consistent practices and a strong safety culture.
Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG)
• Support the development and coordination of Microbiologics’ ESG initiatives and sustainability goals.
• Collect and maintain data related to environmental impact, energy use, waste reduction, and other sustainability metrics.
• Assist in preparing internal ESG updates and external sustainability communications.
• Collaborate with internal groups such as Sustainability, DEIB, and Culture Club to advance social and environmental engagement.
• Participate in community outreach and volunteer initiatives aligned with company values.
• Stay informed about ESG reporting trends and assist in evaluating relevant frameworks and metrics.
Skills/Eligibility:
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Sustainability, or related field.
- 1–3 years of experience supporting EHS, sustainability, or ESG programs (internship or early career experience acceptable).
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory frameworks preferred.
- Manager-level experience in manufacturing or laboratory settings a plus.
