POSITION SUMMARY: The Environment of Care Specialist is responsible for supporting a safe, compliant, and functional healthcare environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role ensures adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards (such as CMS, OSHA, DOH, WSSHE and NFPA) by monitoring, auditing, and improving environmental safety, emergency preparedness, and life safety practices across the organization.

  • Conduct Environment of Care and Life Safety inspections with accuracy, consistency, and ethical accountability
  • Communicate findings clearly, respectfully, and transparently with leaders and frontline staff

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine Environment of Care and Life Safety inspections
  • Support compliance with CMS, OSHA, DOH, and all other regulatory bodies
  • Assist with emergency management planning, drills, and after-action reporting
  • Maintain documentation, reports, and compliance dashboards
  • Participate in safety committees and survey readiness activities

Skills/Eligibility:

Required

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, safety, facilities management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Knowledge of healthcare, safety and regulatory standards
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation skills
  • Ability to conduct inspections and communicate findings clearly
  • Experience in a healthcare or regulated environment
  • Familiarity with CMS and DOH
  • Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or similar certification
  • Experience with emergency management programs
  • Valid WA driver’s License
